Christian values
TASTE
is seeking to operate as
a Christian charity not as a charity run by Christians. Having systems,
procedures, methodologies and outcomes that are a result of biblical
wisdom is seen as a priority.
Each Trustee must be able to subscribe to our
basis of faith, as set down in our Trust Deed.
However, for
TASTE
to be a worthy bearer of the label 'Christian' then, as Sir
Fred Catherwood wrote, "Words alone are not enough".
Biblical principles should permeate the whole of the organisation. The
Trustees are accountable
for the outworking of these biblical principles.
TASTE
should not be the vision of one man or a small group but the
fulfillment of legitimate endeavour for wise Christians. Is
TASTE
"... the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be
occupied. ...beautiful in its time." or is it " ...vanity and
grasping for the wind."? (Ecclesiastes 3).
Foundations
The authority for the activities
that
TASTE will engage in must be obedience to our Lord's will revealed in
scripture. Bible study, prayer, a sensitive conscience and the prompting
of the Holy Spirit will give direction to the activities. Calling,
gifting, training and experience will enable the activities to proceed.
In achieving it's mission,
TASTE
will aim to :
- work proactively to encourage local
involvement
- respect the communities within which it
works and be responsive to their needs
- devise time limited projects
- Work without prejudice to colour, race,
creed, gender or age
- ensure that the people being helped and
the environment are not adversely affected by the projects thorough
pre-project feasibility studies.
