Update on Andrew
Sorry for not updating you on Andrew - it was a function of using
Facebook for daily updates and forgetting other communications media!
For those not in the know, Andrew became ill at the end of the May but,
like many in his family, would not stop work. Eventually we
insisted he visit a doctor we know and she immediately hospitalised him
and started treating him for malaria. When his fever didn't
subside and other symptoms were observed, a hemorrhagic virus was
suspected and an emergency evacuation was requested. An air
ambulance was ordered but when Lassa Fever was mentioned, emergency
bells rang all over UK and Africa with the consequence that the
request for evacuation took nearly a week! When Andrew was finally
brought home, he was actually clear of any infection but subsequent
tests confirmed that he had indeed been suffering from Lassa Fever.
He had lost 23k in weight and had little memory of the 'early days' of
his admittance.
Andrew now appears to have made a full recovery
and is working hard to recapture the 23k he lost! He will now
carry Lassa Fever antibodies so he will not catch it again - but it is
very doubtful if he will ever put himself in a position to do so!
We are grateful to God for the way in which the
medical team at Evangel Hospital were able to, quite literally, save
Andrew's life.

TASTE has started using an amazing online
back-up service to keep all our data safe. It cost us £24.95,
which works out at less than 7p per day! We were so impressed that
we've 'done a deal' so that you can use the product as well ... and we
get a little commission. We both win! Have a look at
TASTE online back-up.

Have
you seen the TASTE cookbook?
One of our enthusiastic supporters gathered her
friends together to come up with this cookbook. Costing just £5,
it makes a great little gift for Christmas or to thank a friend for a
favour.

Helping rural pastors ...
When we work in rural communities, we usually partner with the WASCOM
(Water & Sanitation Committee). That's where we meet local leaders and
pastors. There can often be 5 or 6 churches in a rural community
and many of the pastors have not enjoyed the privilege of bible college
training. To help them, one of our Trustees, Adamu Maga, has
offered to run workshops on biblical exegesis (critical analysis).
This will teach them how to analyse scripture so that they can
understand it and teach it more effectively. We'll let you know how it goes........
We are planning to help
a community
in Langtang ...
TASTE is seeking to help a community in Langtang LGA, who are in a
desperate condition. In the rainy season, water is stored in
mini-dams, which is shared with domestic and farm animals. In the
dry season, women and children walk up to 7k per day to fetch water.
99% of the homes have no toilets ...... to find out how we are helping
this community, look at our
Langtang case study.

The Recycle Challenge -
have
you got the bottle?
Many of us are so fed-up with 1p & 5p
coins that we leave them out of our purses or pockets and they end up all
over the house. Some people even throw them away! Now you can
keep all your 'shrapnel' in one place - in the
TASTE
water bottle, ideally suited to hold hundreds of unwanted small
coins. Once full, you can either bank the money and send us a cheque
or you can call us and we'll arrange for one of our
supporters to come
round and collect the coins so that we can bank them.
You can take part in the coin Recycling
Challenge by downloading a label that
will fit an Oasis bottle
or, if you are a Danish supporter, you
can download a Danish label.

As you can see, we've been remiss at
