2018 Fun Runs

IMG_0806Raising funds for TASTE via a sponsored Fun Run has become something of an annual event. Despite the humbugs who claim that fun run is an oxymoron, every year hundreds of people turn out in Sheffield and Wrexham to run, walk, stroll, pedal or push (buggies that is) around a 5k course. 5k, or roughly 3 miles to the uninitiated, is typical of the distance walked by women and children in rural Nigeria in their search for clean drinking water. Not for them the luxury of simply turning on a tap.

The dates for this year’s Fun Runs have been confirmed as follows:

North Wales 5k Fun Run at Alyn Waters – Saturday 28 April 2018

Sheffield 5k Fun Run Weston Park and Crookes Valley Park – Saturday 12 May 2018.

The courses are along footpaths and are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. If preferred, participants can run on the grass alongside most of the paths.

Who Participates? The short answer is everyone! We have serious runners who are training for other events; we have family groups who race between themselves; we have parents with buggies; we have dog-walkers. Some run, others stroll.

If we want to help more communities this year, your participation in the event is crucial and raising sponsorship is vital.
